Shimizu Port is one of the three most beautiful ports in Japan. It is close to downtown Shizuoka. You can take a ferry to visit the port. Enjoy the view of the port, taste the freshest catch, and admire the spectacular Mount Fuji not far away. In spring, Kawaji Sakura wakes up from the cold of winter and welcomes the arrival of spring with pink petals. Every year Kawajin holds a cherry blossom festival, so this early cherry tree will bring the message of spring to everyone. In the best viewing season, about 800 cherry blossoms on both sides of the Hejin River are in full bloom, decorating the banks of the river extremely beautifully.
Here is the lesser-known Mt. Fuji area. You can have the mountain all to yourself. Our private shore excursion offers the most memorable way to see the Mount. You'll explore Miho No Matsubara Beach in Shimizu to see Mt. Fuji from a fantastic coastal place of sand, sea, and sky.
Our Japan shore adventures are created by Western destination experts who live in Japan combined with local Japanese tour specialists to showcase all the best attractions in Japan and provide a unique understanding of Japan from a Western point of view. This is why our Japan tour packages are the most comprehensive and unparalleled.

The MT Fuji World Heritage Center is a museum and cultural facility that showcases the history, culture and natural beauty of Japan's iconic mountain. The center, which opened in 2017, features a unique design that resembles an inverted Mt. Fuji, reflecting the mountain's image on a large pool of water. The center also offers various exhibits, interactive programs and events that highlight the diverse aspects of Mt. Fuji, such as its religious significance, artistic inspiration and scientific research. The center aims to promote the conservation and appreciation of Mt. Fuji as a world heritage site and a symbol of Japan.
Mt Fuji Yume Terrace is a popular tourist attraction that offers a panoramic view of the iconic mountain and its surroundings. Visitors can see a breathtaking view of Shimizu Port and Suruga Bay, the deepest bay in Japan, below you, with the majestic Mt. Fuji in the distance. Visitors can enjoy the scenery from various angles, such as the observation deck, the skywalk, and the glass floor. The terrace also features a museum, a cafe, and a souvenir shop. Yume Terrace was designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates, who also designed the New National Stadium.
A cable car connects the Nihondaira Plateau and the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, allowing visitors to access the shrine in five minutes. The cable car, called the Nihondaira Ropeway, runs every 20 minutes and costs 1,100 yen for a round trip. Along the way, passengers can enjoy the panoramic views of the valleys and the Suruga Bay.
The ride takes 15 minutes. It offers a panoramic view of the whole area as it glides across the lush forest. You might need to wait in line if a large cruise ship docks at Shimizu Port.
Kunozan Toshogu Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Suruga-ku, Shizuoka, Japan. It is the oldest and most important of the Toshogu shrines, which are dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate. Tokugawa Ieyasu unified Japan after a long period of civil wars and chose Kunozan as his final resting place. The shrine was built in 1617 and features elaborate architecture and decorations, including a main hall that is designated as a National Treasure. Kunozan Toshogu Shrine attracts many visitors who admire its historical and cultural significance, as well as its scenic location on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
If you want to enjoy a superb view of Mt. Fuji, you should visit Miho beach. Miho beach is a scenic spot on the coast of Suruga Bay, where you can see the majestic mountain rising above the sea. The beach is famous for its pine trees, which create a contrast with the blue water and the white snow-capped peak. The best time to go is in the morning, when the sun illuminates the mountain and the sky is clear. Miho beach is a great place to relax and admire the beauty of nature.
Shimizu is a popular destination for cruise ships because of its scenic views of Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. The port of Shimizu offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors, such as museums, parks, temples and markets.
First, we will avoid the crowds at the ropeway station by heading to the world heritage site and Yume Terrace. Then, we will come back to Shimizu and take the ropeway to Kuno Toshogu Shrine, which is located on a hilltop with a stunning view of the city and the sea. Finally, we will either visit Miho beach, where you can enjoy the coastal view of Mt. Fuji and the pine trees, or go back to the port.
Located on the JR Tokaido line between Okitsu and Yui stations, Satta Pass is a 300-meter pass along the historical Tokaido Road. During the Edo period, Tokaido Road served as a main artery between Tokyo and Kyoto. The hike to the Satta Pass is exhilarating, but rewarding when you get to see Suruga Bay and the Izu Peninsula. On a clear day, Mount Fuji can be seen majestically.
The beautiful views from Satta Pass have captivated the hearts and eyes of people since the Edo Period. There is still a sense of enchantment when it comes to Mount Fuji and the deep blue waters of Suruga Bay. On the way down from the passes, you'll find small villages in Kurasawa-Terao. There are also traces of the bustling days when travelers crossed the pass-over. Now is the time to leave your mark at Satta Pass. The tour lasts about 4 hours.
