Aoshima Shrine is a serene Shinto shrine located on the charming Aoshima Island in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. It is dedicated to three deities: Hikohohodemi, Toyotama-hime, and Shiozuchi-no-ōkami, which are deeply rooted in Japanese mythology. The shrine is not only a spiritual center but also a cultural treasure, attracting visitors for its religious significance and its picturesque setting, surrounded by the unique geological formations known as the "Devil's Washboard." Accessible via the Yayoi bridge, the shrine offers a tranquil escape and a glimpse into Japan's rich spiritual heritage.
The Devil's Washboard is a fascinating geological formation found along the coast of Aoshima Island in Miyazaki, Japan. This natural wonder, stretching approximately eight kilometers, is characterized by its jagged, washboard-like ridges formed through the erosive power of waves over millions of years. The alternating layers of hard sandstone and soft mudstone have been sculpted by the sea, creating a striking pattern that is not only a visual spectacle but also a testament to the dynamic forces of nature.
The "Happy Yellow Mailbox" is located next to the Yayoi Bridge connecting Qingdao. It was originally red like other Japanese mailboxes. However, because this place is said to be the place where Yama Yukihiko and Toyotama Hime fell in love in the myth of "The Ancient Book", in order to make the romantic legend To continue its legacy, the local postbox is painted yellow, a symbol of happiness. Surrounded by lush green vegetation, with blue sea, blue sky and pure white sandy beach, it is easy to take check-in photos. You can also send letters to important people here after visiting Aoshima Shrine!
The Moai statues of Sun Messe Nichinan offer a unique glimpse into the cultural exchange between Japan and Easter Island. These seven replicas, the only ones in the world created with the permission of Easter Island's authorities, stand as a testament to the resilience and restoration following the devastating 1960 Chilean earthquake and tsunami. Visitors to Sun Messe Nichinan can marvel at these monolithic figures against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, a sight that blends the mystique of ancient Polynesian culture with the natural beauty of Miyazaki Prefecture.
