Himeji Castle is a stunning example of Japanese castle architecture that has survived for centuries. It is located on a hilltop in the city of Himeji, in the Hyōgo Prefecture of Japan. The castle is also known as White Heron Castle, because of its white exterior and graceful shape. The castle complex consists of more than 80 buildings, including a six-story main keep, several smaller keeps, towers, gates, and walls. The castle has a sophisticated defense system, with winding paths, hidden chambers, and rock chutes to deter invaders. Himeji Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a National Treasure of Japan. It is one of the most visited and admired castles in Japan, especially during the cherry blossom season in spring.
Himeji Kokoen Garden is a beautiful Japanese garden that was built in 1992 next to Himeji Castle, one of Japan's most famous castles. The garden covers an area of 3.5 hectares and consists of nine different sections, each with its own style and theme. The sections are separated by walls and gates that match the Edo period architecture of the castle. Some of the sections include a pond garden, a tea garden, a pine garden, a bamboo garden and a flower garden. The garden showcases the seasonal beauty of Japan, with cherry blossoms in spring, colorful foliage in autumn and snow-covered scenery in winter. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll through the garden, admire the views of the castle and experience the traditional culture of Japan.
Mount Shosha is a sacred mountain in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. It is famous for its ancient temple complex, Engyoji, which was founded in 966 and belongs to the Tendai sect of Buddhism. Engyoji has many impressive wooden buildings that blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Some of them were used as filming locations for the Hollywood movie "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise. To reach Mount Shosha, you can take a bus and a ropeway from Himeji Station, or hike up the mountain trail. You can enjoy the serene atmosphere and the panoramic views of Himeji City from the temple grounds.
