Surrounded by exotic plants and undulating terrain, Kabira Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful spots on Ishigaki Island. This beach is part of Iriomote Ishigaki National Park and is famous for its soft white sand and clear blue-green water. Take a transparent glass-bottomed boat out to sea and admire the colorful coral reefs and fish at your feet along the way. Or go to the observation deck above the bay and look around at the bay scenery and the rolling mountains on the horizon.
The Ishigaki Stalactite Cave, located on Ishigaki Island, is a natural wonder formed over 200,000 years. Visitors can explore this subterranean landscape and marvel at the illuminated stalactites, which are among the fastest growing in Japan. The cave offers a unique experience with its ancient coral reefs, tropical garden, and the world's first cave illuminations, creating a magical atmosphere. It's an all-weather attraction, perfect for families, and provides a glimpse into the geological history of the region. For those interested, there are also workshops where you can paint your own Shisa, a traditional Ryukyuan cultural artifact.
The Hirakubozaki Lighthouse stands as a serene sentinel on the northernmost tip of Ishigaki Island, Japan. This iconic structure is not only a navigational aid but also a popular tourist attraction, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding coral seas and the horizon beyond. Visitors often find themselves captivated by the contrast of the white lighthouse against the vibrant blues of the sky and sea, making it a picturesque spot for photography and sightseeing.
Torinji refers to a historic temple located in Ishigaki, Okinawa, known as Torinji Temple. Established in 1614, it is revered as the oldest wooden building in the region. The temple is guarded by two Deva kings, ancient wooden carvings dating back to the 18th century, representing the oldest of their kind in Okinawa. These figures are considered protectors of Ishigaki, symbolizing the cultural and historical significance of the temple. Torinji Temple not only offers a glimpse into the past but also serves as a serene spot for reflection amidst the bustling city life.
