The oVERVIEW OF OSAKA

What is Osaka Famous for

Osaka is the most famous "foodie's paradise" in Japan, and the dazzling variety of food that is available in the city adds to the popularity of Osaka, such as okonomiyaki, takoyaki, and blowfish hot pot.

Osaka Castle is a popular place to see cherry blossoms in spring, and is crowded with visitors. In Umeda, the northern gate of Osaka, there are many large underground streets lined with restaurants, specialty stores and grocery stores. The area around Umeda is called "North", while the area around Namba and Dotonbori is called "South". Namba is a busy neighborhood with a civilian atmosphere, and Dotonbori is an area with many restaurants on both sides of the Dotonbori River. Minami is a famous entertainment district with many theaters and movie theaters for recreation and .entertainment culturent.

In addition, the ancient cities of Kyoto and Nara are less than a 40-minute drive from Osaka. The old-fashioned charm of these cities will also give you a unique flavor.

History

Osaka Castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583, and was reduced to ashes in 1615 during the war. Osaka Castle was rebuilt after the Edo Shogunate brought Osaka under its jurisdiction. At the same time, various waterways and canals were built, making Osaka the center of Japan's economy, logistics and transportation. The name "Osaka's kitchen" and "Osaka's water capital, the 888th bridge" have been passed down from this period. After the Meiji Restoration, the Japanese government officially established the Osaka Prefecture. Osaka was transformed from a financial and trade center into a commercial center through a series of reforms, and in 1970, Osaka hosted the World Expo, and the "Tower of the Sun" and other landmarks remain today. Osaka has played a pivotal role in the centuries-old history of Asia. At the same time, its fusion of history and culture has attracted people from all over the world.

Culture

Osaka was the first capital of Japan's Kansai region, and has long been an economic and cultural center of Japan. There are many historical "culture above" properties preserved here.

In 2003, Osaka was declared a World Intangible Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the language arts, such as Rakugo and Manzai, which are the essence of Osaka's local comedy, are representative of Osaka culture and Japanese culture. They are representative of Osaka culture and Japanese culture. Unlike the "Mandarin" language spoken in Tokyo, Osaka has its own unique Kansai dialect. This is called "Osaka dialect" by the people of Osaka. The language is characterized by many words and phrases with meanings that are only used in the Kansai region. Unlike Tokyo's stereotypes, Osaka is known throughout Japan for its spontaneity, atmosphere, and hilarity.

In addition, the most famous tea ceremony master in history, Sen Rikyu, created the "tea of leisure and silence" here, which is the opposite of glamour and luxury. It is a place where the beauty of the inner workings of the tea is found without the pretense and artifice. It also represents the unparalleled beauty behind the prosperity of Osaka.

Five DISTRICTs of Osaka
